About the Journal

The Tulane Maritime Law Journal is a student-edited law journal concerning current topics in admiralty and maritime law. Originally founded in conjunction with Tulane's student-run Maritime Law Society, the now-independent Journal reflects Tulane’s exemplary leadership in the field of maritime and admiralty law as well as New Orleans’ own nautical history.

Readership spans over thirty-five countries, including private admiralty law firms, marine insurance companies, shipping lines, federal agencies, law school libraries, federal judges, and the United States Supreme Court. Five volumes of the TMLJ have been cited by the United States Supreme Court (13, 17, 18, 20, 35).

Volume 50 of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal will be published during the 2025-2026 academic year.
