Abstract
Timothy Conrad, although a respected and knowledgeable paleontologist of the last century, was at times criticized by other authors for carelessness in some of his publications. His enigmatic proposal of the generic name Pseudocardia, in an article on new taxa of Recent and fossil mollusks, is an example.
