Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to reexamine the genus Phalium from the Alum Bluff Group of northwestern Florida. Over a century has elapsed since Dall first described a single specimen of this genus from Chipola Formation deposits. His new species was collected from Ten Mile Creek in Calhoun County, Florida, and given the name Phalium aldrichi to honor Mr. T.H. Aldrich, who was instrumental in furthering our knowledge of the Eocene fauna of the southern United States (Gardner, 1947, p. 537).
