Abstract

238 species and 21 subspecies of Foraminifera are identified in the Louisiana Pleistocene.  Five species and three subspecies are new.  Stratigraphic ranges of forms previously thought more restricted are emended.  Sedimentary cycles are indicated by foraminiferal frequencies in cores from a well near the edge of the continental shelf.  Trans-Atlantic correlation of Gulf Coast sediments is suggested by the discovery in coastal Louisiana wells of Calabrian index fossils.
